An Earth Day 2023 shoutout to all those working hard to help preserve the beauty and diversity of our natural world. These pics are from a recent trip the Maquipucuna Reserve in the Choco forest of Ecuador, one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. Maquipacuna was established over 30 years ago and has been a leader in not just preservation but engagement and collaboration with local communities and researchers, in addition to hosting nature lovers from around the world. They have a particular focus on the Andean Spectacled Bear, who can be seen there munching on wild avocados in the fall. I haven't spotted one yet, but hopefully will get to on a future visit :)
